Portfolio Re-balancing..some tips

Over the course of the year, the market value of each security within your portfolio earned a different return, resulting in a change in the allocation pie. This might change the investor’s risk profile. While in the short term this may not have an adverse impact, such changes in risk profiles can have a far-reaching impact in the longer run. Portfolio rebalancing is a strategy that allows individuals to keep their risk level in check and minimize risk.

What is re-balancing?

Re-balancing is the process of buying and selling portions of your portfolio in order to set the weight of each asset class back to its original state. In addition, if an investor’s investment strategy or tolerance for risk has changed, he or she can use rebalancing to readjust the weightages of each security or asset class in the portfolio to fulfill a newly devised asset allocation. Assume an investor’s portfolio worth Rs 1,00,000 is invested in equity funds (40%), Bond Funds (40%) and liquid funds (20%). In other words, Rs 40,000 will be invested in equity funds, Rs 40,000 will be invested in bond funds and Rs 20,000 will be invested in liquid funds. Let’s assume that in Year 1, equity funds deliver 50% return, bond funds loose 2% and liquid funds give a modest 4% return. His portfolio, at the end of the year, will look like this:

Overall, the portfolio has returned 8%, but that’s more due to the equities.

In year 2, assume equity markets fall. So assume, equity funds fall by 10%. Also assume that Bond funds on the other hand rebound and return 9%, while liquid funds continue with 4%.

Now assume two scenarios, viz. one where the above investor switches back to his original asset allocation, and the other where the investor doesn’t reallocate his assets as per his original allocation and ignores the change.

As per the above example, while the rebalanced portfolio appreciates to Rs 1,20,480, the value of the ignored portfolio actually falls to Rs 1,18,360. As can be seen, the ignored portfolio got swayed by the equity return in Year 1 and therefore chose not to go back on the original asset allocation, not knowing that equities as an asset class can be quite volatile in the short run. A fall drop in the equities in Year 2 was enough to result in the ignored portfolio to under-perform the rebalanced portfolio. Re-balancing strategy is, therefore, the optimal strategy.

Benefits of portfolio rebalancing

Disciplined investing
Re-balancing is a vital part of investment policy - there can be no asset allocation target without the discipline to preserve that target.

Reduces risk
A plan may incur higher risk if no rebalancing policy exists. This is true particularly for equity allocations, which can rapidly rise in a bull market. For instance, portfolio rebalancing ensures that in rising equity markets, the asset allocation doesn’t get skewed towards equities and the portfolio correctly reflects the investor’s risk profile. It also ensures that the portfolio is adequately diversified.

Buy low, sell high
Rebalancing is a mechanism for sensible timing - the process naturally buys low and sells high. This strategy ensures that the portfolio returns are enhanced. A clear re-balancing policy avoids the risks of ad-hoc and costly portfolio revisions.

Balanced Funds – a better way to portfolio re-balancing

One way to rebalance the portfolio is to do it ourselves. In other words, investments can be made in equity and debt funds separately and then adequate re-balancing can be done depending on how the equity and debt markets perform.

Another simple way to ensure portfolio re-balancing is to invest in Balanced Funds. Here, the fund manager does the re-balancing and not the investor. Usually, all balanced funds invest around 65-70% in equity markets and the rest in debt and money market instruments as per their stated asset allocation mix.

So when equity markets keep rising consistently, Balanced Funds are mandated to book profits and bring their equity allocation back to their stated levels. This way, balanced funds carry a low downside risk as when equity markets fall, balanced funds take a lesser hit than diversified equity funds, as their exposure to equities is low.

Link building with Do follow ..500+ dofollow list

This is whitehat. I guess so.
You know the difference between do follow and no follow. No need to repeat. Many people say it does not matters so much, but the truth is that it matters. A do follow link matters more than a no follow links.

Here is a list of over 250+ DoFollow Blogs. Don’t know what a DoFollow Blog is? DoFollow Blogs are Weblogs that have DoFollow Plugin installed. DoFollow Plugin removes the “NoFollow” tag from the comments. It means that if you submit a comment with your home page to these blogs then Search Engines will count that link as a back link. If you don’t use ‘DoFollow’ Plugin then search engines will ignore those links.

When submitting comments to these blogs please write some relevant and useful content. Don’t Spam! If you submit just one comment to all of them then it gives you more than 250 back links to your Website/Blog. And these 250 back links alone can get you a PR of 1 assuming you have quality search engine friendly articles.

For More:
So, take a list of do follow blogs
http://nicusor.com/do-follow-list/

You can find a directory here:
http://www.dofollowblogs.com/

So you know on each blogs you should comments with your url in website field, and you name as an anchor text such that you can get maximum benefits from this blogs.

Now comes the second part: use this tool to find the page rank of internal pages:
http://www.livepr.info/internal-pages-page-rank.php
Sometimes is buggy, but usually works well.

Find old blog posts having high page rank, and comment on them. I have found like 3 pagerank 5 pages, and countless pagerank 4 pages when i used it.
Afterwards just comment leaving a link on the blog pages that have a high pagerank. Maximum efficiency from blog comments.

How to make $1000 a day exploiting youtube

This has been spoke about before
http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackha...hat-guide.html
Thanks Nick

A little more info on it.

Step#1 - Sign up at a CPA network.
I monetize the traffic that I get from Youtube by sending them to CPA offers. If you don't know what a CPA offer is, well its basically like an affiliate network where they pay you every time a visitor you refer fills out a form. Getting people to fill out forms in exchange for some kind of freebie that the advertiser is offering is real easy . If you have an account at these or any other CPA I personally use MillnicMedia network, that will suffice. If you don't then I suggest you signup at MillnicMedia.

Step#2 – Find a good offer to monetize
I usually find offers that give away something free and are in vogue. For example, a free iPhone. The iphone is a very hot product right now and people are crazy about it.
Find such an offer with the network you have signed up for. Try and pick an offer that has a landing page that is well designed and has a "call to action"
Typically a well designed landing page is designed in such a way that the only action the visitor can do is to fill out the form or close the page.
Pick out two to three good offers and save the affiliate links to a file.

Step #3 - Download the video conversion software.

Files that are stored at youtube and other video sharing sites are in the ".flv" format that youll need to convert to mpeg. So to do that youll need this freeware called RIVA flv encoder. Download it from http://www.rivavx.com/?encoder
I’ll explain how to use it further down.

Step#4 – Make the video
Ok this is the place where I hear you go "heck I don't know how to make videos"

Trust me it’s not that hard.

Option A

Go to youtube or any other video sharing site and type the keyword in the search
box. In our example type "iphone"
You will find several videos uploaded by people. Find one that's generic and doesn't have too much branding in it.
The next step is to download this video from youtube or any other video sharing site that you found it at.
To download it visit this site
http://dcg.m4v.org

Enter the url to the video in the box. (make sure that the video site you are using is supported by them)

Save the file when you get the prompt. Once you have finished downloading the file rename the file with the extension ".flv"

Now we need to convert that video into the mpeg format. To do so start the RIVA flv encoder and select the flv file as the input and in the output box enter the filename with the extension ".mpg"
Here is one video that I took and added my advert in the start and the end of the video.

If you have camtasia you can add your advert at any place in the video as a callout.
If you don't have camtasia then you can use the free camstudio that's given along with Tube Automator as a bonus and add your adverts into the video.

Option-B

The second option is to create a presentation in powerpoint and then record that presentation with either camtasia or camstudio.
Creating text based presentations is a easy simple way to make your video and keep it short and interesting.

Step#5 – Make the blog

The next step is to make a blog at blogger.com and add the code that’s below into the template. This code will redirect the user to your affiliate offer and since it’s a blogspot blog any body snooping around will not get your real info as they can’t really do a "whois" search at blogger.

Step#6 – Upload the video to youtube

Upload the video to youtube and use a catchy title. Example "Win a free iPhone" In the description add the URL to the blog. Do not write anything else in the description. Add descriptive tags based on the offer you are promoting.

Step#7 – Make it popular with Tube Automator
Get Tube Automator to Automate it…
Finally use tube Automator to post comments and vote on your video. The more you vote and post with different accounts the more popular your video gets.

So are you ready to get that avalanche of traffic??

All About traffic and traffic

Getting F'ing Traffic

Traffic has to the the main thing you need in affiliate marketing, you need it, you want more of it, and you want quality traffic.

This small guide I will write a few things you might need, come across or find interesting.
Also if you find this crap, un-useful please disregard the post, as i want to get through as much of this weeks questions as possible. So all the newbies know where to start.

There are 6 forms of traffic that i will talk about

1. Startup page traffic.
This is normally called your browsers homepage, just like Google, MSN, Yahoo, search usually the first page you see when you load your browser. Now theres many ways to do this, you can set some scripts or buttons on your page, or try to force it with many tricks to make the end-user set your page as your homepage.
The most profitable method for this is to throw up your own search engine with adsense ads or XML ppc companies search scripts. All are profitable but it would only work if it was good, and you dont want to throw just a crappy page up as you will annoy newbies who dont know how to change it to whatever they like. So a search engine is good because if they cant change it your going to get a lot of searches made, meaning money for a long time.

2. Typein Traffic.
As everyone here knows typein traffic can be very great at converting, say for example a friend of yours told you to visit "U TUBE DOT COM" if you did not know it from the start you could take this in a numerous amount of ways like UTUBE.com, they are really sought after domains that only usually consist of DOTCOMS because not many people will typein a .NET, anyways these domains if you can grab them are great earners. The best method of grabbing one of these is looking for beta release sites, like http://www.inviteshare.com/ this will tell you invite only sites, that are not yet public, these can be amazingly fast ways to grab upcoming potentially great traffic sites. And if you snap up typos fast could make a great earner, or a domain sale.

3. Bookmarks.
Bookmark traffic depending on what kind of site always leads the user back to you. These are mostly community sites or blogs, well , all sites really get bookmarks but the popular ones are usually member sites, like blackhatworld for instance. The earning potential here is great, and the traffic is recurring for a very long time, but i wouldnt recommend forcing a bookmark using scripting as that will piss the users off.

4. Linked Traffic.
This is where most of your traffic should come from, Search engines, links from blogs, directories and whatever you can think of that has link potential like blackhatworld here. The traffic is usually targeted because your anchor text is usually relevent to what the user wants to see.

5. Popups and redirects.
Popups and things can be sent from other sites, exchanges, and popups from your other network of sites. You can easily get a lot of popup exchanges to your site(s) but the traffic is poor, usually only good for the likes of PAY PER IMPRESSION.

6. Software.
A lot of software can have built in browsers, or banners, the likes of MSN messenger always usually runs an ad at the bottom of the client. This converts into traffic by clicks, and mega targeted, you can also throw traffic in your own browser, for example ebooks, and other things like that, i put ebooks here under software because sometimes ebooks can be binded into software, but its all the same, ebook traffic can be very converting , and say you write about something and spread it through torrents, p2p and other things on the subject you want to convert it can get viral.

Viral traffic is another using the buzz to spread the word, for example the likes of youtube videos, you can throw in a lot of funny videos and watermark your urls on the video.
Another idea would be to upload the latest songs in the music charts to youtube or other type sites and throw in a ringtone affiliate url in the description.

A little secret called Traffic Trading

Just like in the adult marketing business a lot of adult webmasters use traffic trading as there main source of traffic, SO WHY THE FUCK ARENT YOU?

And just in mainstream it works too, but dont let them just throw a link back to you cause they could lie about there traffic and send you none whatsoever.

What can you do?
USE A TRAFFIC TRADING SCRIPT

What is a traffic trading script?
A trading script automates the process of trading traffic with other websites. It tracks your hits coming in and controls your traffic going out. A good script will filter out websites trying to cheat you. When I researched several sites that had a traffic base of 1 million or more visitors a day I found that the common denominator was that 95% were all using a traffic trading script. And 90% of them were using the same script.

Why use a traffic trading script?

It will allow you to grow your traffic exponentially. You can make traffic trades all day and not worry about how much traffic your traffic trading partners are sending you. If they can only send you a little traffic then it adjusts and sends them a little bit in return. If they send you a lot then you can send them a lot of traffic in return.

A good feature of a trading script is it works automatically, and usually it generates a lot of related linking. Bringing you higher in the SERPS.

And although its tempting to trade with everything existing its best to stick with your niche only. For TARGETED TRAFFIC.

You can also use top referer list type scripts.
A Top Referrer List is also very common on adult websites, and almost never used on mainstream sites. A top referrer list is simply a link list on your website that says “These are the top 10 sites that send me traffic”. This is a very easy way to send your top traffic trading partners back some traffic. Some larger websites even take the list as high as 100. These list also encourage other sites to send you traffic because they want to be on your top 10 list. Never underestimate the ego of another webmaster. Nothing will make him want to send you more traffic than seeing his competitor on your top 10 list.
Many of the traffic trading programs will generate a top referrer list.

Also remember CONTENT is KING, thats what drives the traffic in the first place and will bring users to your site, bringing trades so make sure you have decent content. Thats probably the most important thing of all

Also remember you can go on the hunt for traffic exchanges, you dont only need them to come to you, you can look for them. A nice google search on your niche + traffic trade or + add site would do the trick.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Easy traffic

Webrings - for example www.ringsurf.com and www.webring.com can bring in easy traffic but depending on the popularity of your niche, it can be quite dead. So i will skip on to something else, but always keep this idea open.

Toplist traffic - This is pretty much an easy start for anyone, its simple in a way a voting script type banner exchange, but works. Good for dating, hacking, type sites usually but there quite what i would call SEMI-GOOD.
You can popup the toplist voting page in a popup or im sure you can cheat it with some sort of script.

Banner Exchange - Poor traffic , easy, fast, and low converting, just depending on where you do it.

Forum traffic - One of the easiest and best out there, for example if you want to promote some Gambling poker related products sign up in a forum of that niche and talk some sense, dont spam just answer reasonably and youll get some hits and exposure

Blog Comment Traffic - Do a blog search on your niche, for example the blogger search @ http://blogsearch.google.com and comment on a lot of them, this can be done by hand for best results, as you can answer according to the actual post , just give it a quick read and post something semi good with your link.

Article Traffic - Writing articles can be fast, check out http://ezinearticles.com and http://goarticles.com and a google search will give you more. This provides a ton of backlinks as a lot of places scrape the content on article release sites. And is good because of the fact that its targeted traffic and highly convertable.

Classfieds - http://gumtree.com and http://craigslist.com can convert you can place ads for anything in there and users that want it will check your shit out, you can sell things, promote things, and even trick them, for example say you are running a dating site, post in the dating sections, Hi im a girl 24 from such and such im looking for a male send me a mail and ill send my pics, then setup an autoresponder to send pics and a link to your dating site, or sell a product say a car, and link to a relevent ebay search with your affiliate link in place, YOU DONT EVEN HAVE TO HAVE THE PRODUCT, cj.com runs the affiliate site of ebay so check it out.

Expired domains - can be quite good expired domains have traffic and PR already. And ofcourse links to them, they can be found even on http://www.justdropped.com and http://deleteddomains.comm, these come same price as a normal domain, and you can find some quite good ones. And if you want and find good ones just sell them on at high prices.
Its also a good note to research on the domains on like linkpopularity or other type sites.

Adsense - Dont even wanna get into this but the option is there. But not very newbie friendly so ill skip this .
